Non-fiction,
Novels, Poetry
Wide experience in writing and helping others to write community
books and personal biography. Works with artists from other disciplines
such as modern dancers, Indian dancers, photographers and musicians
using writing to produce multi-art forms which draw from different
cultural traditions. Novel 'The White Room' was shortlisted for
the Author's Club Best First Novel Award in 1997.

(non-fiction, 1997, Pontefract Press); 'New for Old' The Story
of the First Housing Action Trust' (1998, North Hull Housing Action
Trust).
Performance Work
'Dance and Words', poetry performance with dance theatre at Grimsby
Literature Festival; 'The Bullies', poetry performance with dance
theatre for Channel 7 TV, 1999; 'Flying' and 'Loving Auntie Mary',
short stories performed at Doncaster Arts Centre.
Availability
Daytime, evenings and weekends.

Poet
Leicester poet, ex-primary teacher. Has always lived and worked
in or around city and county. Began writing seriously when a mature
student at Leicester College of Education. Has written short stories
but works mainly as a poet.
Publications
Poems widely published in magazines, including Acumen, Envoi,
Poetry Nottingham International, Outposts, Staple, etc. and included
in various anthologies, also Letts educational publications. Two
collections, 'The Way We Live' (Outposts Publication) and 'Eating
Peaches' (Coalville Publishing Co. Ltd., 1993).
Performance
Work
Has run workshops for schools, adult education, university, writers'
groups etc. Reads at Festivals, various group meetings, anywhere
from church to a tithe barn. Particularly interested in work with
disabled groups.
Availability
Available most times for readings, day schools, workshops, adjudications.
Also works with Emma Gleadall, as EM-BER, poetic duo, two women,
two poets, two points of view.

Children's Writer
Contributed to many school book weeks, INSET, courses and conferences.
Been shortlisted for the Children's Book of the Year, been an
International Reading Association Children's Choice and won United
Kingdom Reading Association award for non fiction. Works with
children (infants and junior) and adults.

Playwright,
Poet, Short Stories, Storyteller
As a trained teacher is able to organise and undertake workshops
in the area below. Has been writing and performing for more than
ten years. Plays the drums and incorporates Afrikan and Caribbean
rhythms in his work. Also able to do workshops in various rhythms.
Performance Work
Has read in poetry slams, story telling on radio, through Island
Voices performed in numerous venues in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago.
Has performed at Phoenix Arts, Centennial Centre, Imani Ujima,
Brockwell Park, Youth Centres, schools and community centres.
Availability
Depends on notice, but most times can be negotiated.
