Requirements for students
PC Hardware & Software Requirements
Any PC computer with reliable access to the Internet with
either Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher OR Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher Web
Browser installed.
Please note: at present the following browsers are not
supported: AOL and Netscape 6. If you run either of these browsers, you will need
to also install Internet Explorer 5 (see http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/).
There are also a few issues with Internet Explorer 6 and
WebCT. Please mention when you register that you will be using IE6 and we'll advise
you.
The preferred system is a Pentium class or higher with
64 Mb of RAM running Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT.
Macintosh Hardware & Software Requirements
Any Macintosh computer with reliable access to the Internet
with either Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher OR Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher
Web Browser installed.
The preferred system is a PowerMac, iMac or higher with
64 Mb of RAM running Operating System (OS) 8, 9, 10 or higher.
To check whether your PC or Mac computer/browser combination
will run our WebCT-based courses, you can go to Browser
Tune-Up.
You will need to be able to:
- have a good knowledge of the English language
- use a mouse
- use a word processor (which will read text, rtf and preferably
Microsoft Word-format documents)
- log on to the Internet
- use a browser
- send and receive email
