The Tourist Eye
There are people we allow to be intrusive. The press and the media may stand between us and the view, or crowd around the public figures. We tolerate their intrusion into private spaces, grumbling if it happens to us, but viewing the results when it happens to others. Like our eyes, they are invisible to us. We let the tourists be intrusive too, a bit less, but they are not our eyes. The tourists are not invisible. Both the tourists and the press are encouraged to move along, not to form or affirm continuing attachments.
