Tourists sunning on a cruise

Park employees at Yosemite have described "the average tourist" as someone "who comes in a car, buys a hot dog, looks at the waterfalls and big rocks, then leaves . . . usually overweight, poorly mannered, physically unfit, and aesthetically insensitive proletarians, who as often as not drive a gas-guzzling station wagon filled to the windows with noisy youngsters whose chief concerns are the locations of the nearest comfort station and soft drink dispensing machines."
