Just a tourist

There can be a feeling of liberation at being a tourist and nothing else. I remember in Mexico talking with the driver Jose. It can be relaxing to not worry about fitting in. Still there are problems of political awareness, and if I am for complexity, can I in conscience evade those problems even for a while? Should I, for instance, savor the Victorian experience of being served by the lower classes while on a cruise ship?
