City fabric
If the city is a fabric, Warsaw has more colors, and while its pattern is not as beautiful as in Krakow's, it has more potential for new patterns because the greater variety offers more contrasts for the weavers to work with. If Krakow could be less museum-like, it might offer better material than Warsaw, but to do so Krakow would have to admit some of those clashing colors, and find ways to mute them while somehow keeping their energy alive for new patterns, or else to alter its old patterns in ways that would alter the unity and depth people so much like in the present fabric.
