Appointmentworks_in_progress
[ June 2004 ]

  • I imported several .jpg images into Macromedia Flash and have created some movie clips. They are very small files as compared to the animated .gifs or especially the .jpg sequences and will, I think, be the format that we use in the end. Each clip can be further manipulated through programming. Also, this stragedy will add greatly to the number of sequences without actually having to create new ones. Unlike the .jpg sequences, the clips are easily extensible and can contain any number of layers. The animation is much smoother and the frame rate is a snap to control. One might think that this was the way to go in the first place, but the .jpgs sequences are providing the visual material. Sequencing the .jpgs first has ensured a certain continuity.

  • Although there are only two examples so far, it is quite easy to create the clips. The clips form part of a parallel project that is being developed for trAce's 2004 Incubation Symposium, including soundtracks and eventually digital poetics. That work-in-progress can be viewed here.

  • Several more flash animations have been added [ 04 October 2004 ], and they can be viewed here.
