The style and colors emphasized at Seaside have been picked up by developers have less imagination and little care for town design. The Seaside "look" with porches and towers and pastels has been applied to standard boxy forms that have had towers plunked on top.

In one way these faux Seaside houses seem less humane than the blunt condominiums on a nearby beach, which may look like hulking alien invaders but do provide some large scale sculpting of the beach space. The boxy faux Seaside houses are set down in unevenly spaced rows, without any of the subtle spatial modulations that the ereal Seaside produces.
