Room to maneuver

Room to maneuver need not be a pre-structured space for action

Does our room to move and alter our social grammars depend on a self-awareness of our having that room?

Or does it depend on random juxtapositions, without self-awareness in the process? Or variation and selection? Or intentional creation?

It would be nice to say "all of the above," but how would they go together on a list?
