New Users

Welcome to the trAce Online Writing Community web site.

trAce is a busy 24-hour online community for writers and readers across the world. We write, share our reading, critique each others' work, discuss our favourite books and talk all the time. We communicate by email and conduct live meetings and events via the internet. Occasionally we even come together in Real Life at conferences and workshops.

For more information about trAce see the page About trAce.

Getting the most from the trAce site
Even if you're not a new user, you can get a quick feel for what trAce is about by taking our Site Tour.

The trAce site is divided broadly into five areas: Help/About, News and Information, Community (including our Discussion area), Projects and People. Each section has its own main page: to move to a section, click on it in the orange navigation bar at the top of each page (or in the navigation menu at the left of the main front page). Further advice on navigation from our Navigation page.

Browsers
Most of the trAce site, including the news and information sections and the discussions are accessible to most browsers. We recommend that to see the trAce site at its best you upgrade your browser of choice to whichever is the newest version. This is not vitally important, but will obviously help you to see parts of the trAce site (especially creative projects) which may not be available to older browsers, and other sites as well.

Finding information
The trAce site has a search engine for searching trAce itself, provided by www.freefind.com. It is available on the front page and on a dedicated search page, where full instructions are given.

More information on searching the Web is given in our FAQ. One of the best search engines is Google, and you can use it directly from our front page to search the whole Web.

If you don't find the information you need here, you are welcome to contact trAce at
trace@ntu.ac.uk or by phone or letter to our offices.
