You slip into:  Newstead Abbey

Presiding Ghost, The White Lady

***

"the last letter of the
Name has been written"

Ah, we are here on the grounds of Newstead Abbey, a twelfth century abbey founded by Henry II.

If it is indeed true that some dastardly crime has taken place, and this crime involves the "death of the book, or the text, or literature as we know it," then this place may be ripe with evidence.  The answer may be in the library of Byron, himself!

Step into the archway here, contemplate the ancient towers, consider the secret lives of the Black Friars, listen to the calling of the crows, smell the scent of roses, and watch for the appearance of The White Lady.  There are many ghostly spirits here - and perhaps they can help us solve the mystery.

You will want to see who else is here, or has been here - and find out what they have discovered!  There is a rumor of a secret courtyard - whispers that the last of the books is hidden in a dark chapel.  Your mouse is a tool to hunt for clues!

About the Abbey

Newstead Abbey.  Nottinghamshire, central England, on the border of Sherwood Forest, between Nottingham and Mansfield. It was founded c.1170 by Henry II in atonement for the murder of Thomas à Becket.  It was secularized and granted to John Byron by Henry VIII.  Lord Byron lived at the abbey intermittently from 1808 to 1814; he sold it in 1818.  More at BBC site.
