Vadim Litvak : travel diary
Stranded -- August 8th
I'm on my way to Kansas and I haven't had much luck getting rides. I really hate to ask for help like this but I don't have a choice right now. I've been walking and I'm tired broke and hungry. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. I'm out front with a blue bag.

    Thank You.

We've been on the road for over 12 hours and haven't killed each other yet, though I know plans are in the works. Some of us have seen _The Blair Witch Project_. Some of us have seen Summer of Sam. But none of us can agree on what to eat for lunch or dinner or, probably, breakfast, but we won't find out till morning.

It's now 12.46 am pst/ 1.46 mountain time (not too sure if it's standard or not). we're outside of Salt Lake City Utah on our way to Chicago and elsewhere for the National Poetry Slam and the Silicon Valley Poetry Slam Team's East Coast tour. Us Californians are finally going to learn how the eastern-half lives.

All brains have two hemispheres, hence the fancy latinate name. Each half controls certain functions of the human, but individually can take over the function of the other in extreme cases. This road trip will be a study in hemispheres.

The note above quoted was found at a rest area 7 miles away from the marked mile at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the place where speed records are broken and speed habits are begun. Boy are we going fast now or what? The note was taped to a sign commemorating the point where the first transcontinental telephone line was joined together, near Wendover (sounds like bend over. see: Deliverance).

Side note: Robert has been the first to remove his shoes in car. Promptly upon removing his shoe, he smelled it. Melinda was disgusted.

No traveller was found near the note or the car or the rest area. No blue bags were found. No trailing voices in the distance. We did have a spiritual communal, though. Seems everytime you get a bunch of poets into a small space, they find something spiritual together. Go figure.

Falling stars are big in this sky.

Cohesive thought may not occur until all seats and meal trays are returned to their full and upright position.

I'm rambling.
