I'm running ragged but I'm one happy guy.
Last night was the National Poetry Slam Finals in Chicago with four team
finalists of Silicon Valley/San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland and New York
Union Square.
In the end of it all, Oakland was third, New York Union Square was second
and Silicon Valley/San Jose and San Francisco were TIED for first!
This was an emotional roller coaster and the plan was that Silicon Valley
and San Francisco were to go into a sudden death die breaker to decide who
would be the one. BUT, Silicon Valley and San Francisco would have none of
that. Seeking of Team San Francisco and Robert Karimi of Team Silicon
Valley went up to host Marc Smith on the stage in front of 2,500 people and
say they wanted to share first place! Everybody went wild, the teams ripped
apart the first place trophy so San Francisco and Silicon Valley would each
have a piece and it was utter pandemonium.
Feel the love :)
It's great the Bay Area was so very well represented in the National Poetry
Slam and in the finals. We have something special with all the support the
Bay Area teams have been giving each other. I've met so many great people
and experienced phenomenal poetry and Chicago is cool. Special thanks to
Marlon and Anida of I was Born with Two Tongues and the Mad Bar Chicago Slam
Team who graciously opened their home to Team Silicon Valley for our stay
here. In a few hours I'm flying back to San Jose while the rest of the team
continues on their road tour for another two weeks. You can follow them as
Team Silicon Valley tours the East at http://www.temporalimage.com/beehive.
I'll have more time once I get home to help to get the updates out and got
lotsa pictures and video to go over. Special thanks to Talan of Beehive who
has been doing a phenomenal job on the Silicon Valley Team roadtrip Beehive
website.
See you soon and thanks again for all your supportk you thank you. Without your
support this would not have happened.
