I'm a really happy guy at this moment. Really.
Vadim Litvak and the rest of the team are also really happy too. Really.
It's been a wonderful time in Chicago and right now the team is shacking up
at a wonderful friend's place and just celebrating the fact that a few hours
ago we found out the Silicon Valley Poetry Slam Team v2.0 is in the National Poetry Slam Finals. This Saturday evening the team will be performing with
the 3 other finalist teams which is Union Square (New York) and San
Francisco and Oakland out of 48 other teams from all around the continent.
We're one of the top four poetry slam teams on the continent. YES!
Yes, three Bay Area poetry slam teams are in the National Poetry Slam Finals
which is totally unprecedented and the whole situation seems surreal. All
the Bay Area teams have been so supportive of each other and we're all
looking forward to be in the Chicago Theatre. We'll be performing in front
of a sold out crowd of 3,600 with national media coverage. CBS 60 Minutes
and Morley Safer is even here doing a piece on poetry slam that will air
sometime winter.
This is almost too hard to believe for us and the fact that this is the
first time that Silicon Valley/San Jose has been represented in the National
Poetry Slam is a victory for the community and the support they have given
us. Just today Vadim and I were to hook up with one of our earliest
supporters, which is The Montserrat Review and chief editor Calder Lowe who
has recently moved to Chicago. Unfortunately we weren't able to hook up due
to scheduling mishaps but I want to say thank you to everyone who believed
in us with the deepest thanks. Thank you thank you thank you. Without your
support this would not have happened.
