Web for Writers Workshop Announcement

Workshop Description and Application (Christy1, 2/13/99 10:59:56 AM)

I will be leading a 10-week online workshop entitled, "The Web for Writers." Here is a brief description: This workshop will assist writers who want to work with the web as a medium. Those who wish to create homepages or a place to exhibit work are also welcome. The goal of the workshop is to help writers focus on their dream-projects and to launch these works.

Meetings to discuss and share work will be held every week for 10 weeks beginning, Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. GMT, 2 p.m. EST and 11 a.m. PST. A list of participants will circulate. A syllabus and notes will be provided.

Please send me an email stating your project idea. Space is limited. You must be willing to give constructive feedback to others in the group. Also, choose a project that you believe you can complete or make significant progress on in 10 weeks. We will show our work at the end. I look forward to hearing from you.

geni wate introduction (geniwate, 2/18/99 6:16:52 PM)

Hi, I'm in the workshop group, and as an excuse to testing CommunityWare, I'll introduce my project:

Empiricosis project : > it is structured as if it is an empirical research project aimed at answering two questions. Firstly, "Are formulas like poems?" secondly "Are poems like formulas?" and then there will be several "experiments" aimed at proving one way or the other. (!) it is meant to exist in that territory between humour and seriousness. I am also thinking of getting into the history of the > development of the scientific method and the percieved divisiion between it and "art". >

> I have just attended a summer school run by ANAT (Australian network for Art and Technology) on this theme.

Christy please advise wehther I'm posting in the right place...

I hope that the discussions from the workshop will evolve into general discussions for our list--that way we can extend the investigations!
