Solstice by Brian Walsh |
Solstice
- the day the sun stands still?
Perhaps it does - but from where I sit, the special change in the rhythm of
the sun is too subtle to detect.
Although I live in the country, I make my living from city things. The
length of my day is depends on events - none of them particularly
sun-related. Time is elastic. Tomorrow may seem longer.
But wait! Is it my imagination, or is it that the vegetables in the garden
seem somehow different today?
No! Just my imagination. Answer the telephone.
Make the next call? No! Pick some raspberries.
Lucky are the city-folk, for they shall not be distracted by reminders that
they are out of step with the cosmos.
