It's a resting place, a pause in the light. A bookmark
placed between the seasons.

At Stone-Henge they're celebrating the solstice for the
first time in over ten years. Druids and new age
revellers, noise and laughter, drums and jugglers, fire
dancers and sun worshippers. A quick burst of
energy that lasts for as long as the dark overlaps the
light. Within hours the stone circle is silent again, empty
stones holding their secrets. Only the flash of a camera
illuminating the empty spaces.

Of course most of us are asleep when the sun rises.
We miss that point of beginning, a chance for renewal.
So the longest or the shortest day is just the middle bit.
Someone puts the sky on pause, while everything else
moves on oblivious. Nature has a few more heartbeats
while the city hyperventilates.

Then it's all change and off again. It's a resting place, a
pause in the light.
