!XENOPHOBIA! invites writers to interrogate the condition of web internationality. The trAce Online Writing Community has brought together over a thousand writers, but although people from 60 countries are now communicating via trAce, do they really understand what each other is saying?

English is the most common language on the net but whose 'English' is it? We invite your anecdotes and opinions about cultural misunderstanding online.

Join the !XENOPHOBIA! discussion in the following ways:

* post stories and anecdotes about misunderstandings you've encountered online in Xenostories

* discuss the issues at the special N5M3 conference at the trAce Online Community

* Send us a short provocative paper on the subject. Email your paper to sue.thomas@ntu.ac.uk no later than Friday 5th March 1999 and please tell us whether you will be there to present it at the N5M3 Conference. Papers by those not attending will be circulated online.

We hope to see you in Amsterdam.
