This is the first time I have found a reference to a Krakouer in the index of a book. A book edited by CT Stannage and published in 1981. A New History of Western Australia. John Krakouer. Page 174. Here I go.

It is a story of race relations, between whites and the indigenous population of this state. About one of the pressure points - in the 1970s.......

In the winter of 1976 violence spread to the heart of Perth. On Saturday night, 10 July, John Krakouer, a part-Aboriginal, ran for his life through the middle of town pursued by a dozen others. They caught him at the corner of Hay and William Streets and beat him to death with sticks and broken bottles.
