Off the program
After the war

The next morning was trouble. The alarm on Bent's watch didn't go off. They were supposed to be out by 5:30 and now it was nearly 7:00. Where they went mattered more than when they got there, but getting off the program could be real bad.
Gina sprang up and started tossing clothes into a bag. It took her a few seconds to see that he was still in bed, but when she saw him there she knew he was sick.
The attack was one of the scariest she'd seen, though he'd had worse right after the war. When he tried to breathe it sounded like a dying animal. He went grayish pale, then blue. She found the adrenalin, shot him up and waited.
