SALAD BAR SLAYER KEPT TOON PORN
Arbutus, Maryland. Special to the New York Times. When Lloyd Denkowitz
ended his deadly rampage at a local Wendy's, he left behind more than shattered
glass and bleeding corpses. He left a community desperately searching for answers.
Now police in this gritty Baltimore suburb think they know how an unassuming
working man turned suddenly into a mass killer. A search of the duplex where Mr.
Denkowitz lived with his parents turned up two licensed handguns, a sawed-off shotgun, and
a personal computer wired to the Internet. Backup disks included "numerous images of
cartoon figures in sexual situations," said Sgt. Dilford Beagley of the Baltimore police,
"including several of the Disney heroine Pocahontas." Investigators believe Mr.
Denkowitz became fixated with the animated character and lost touch with reality through
obsessive use of the Internet.
Witnesses say that shortly before he opened fire in the crowded restaurant, Mr.
Denkowitz shouted, "This is for the Indians!"
