The length of nodes
The nodes in the large project hypertext do tend to be short.

For comparison, on my (1056x792) monitor one screen of the New York Times without large ads but with their sidebars holds 350 words. In blogs I read that have text in columns, typical entries seem to run from 50 to 400 words.
For a further comparison, whereas the large project hypertext has 13 nodes that are over 500 words in length -- about 2 percent of the whole -- this essay you are now reading has 7 nodes that are over 500 words -- about 10 percent of the whole.
