Links Making Walls

Besides transgressing walls, links can also make walls. This can happen in two ways, one more sinister than the other. First, links can bring you up to a border crossing where you are blatantly forbidden to go further. Such an intimidating wall is already weak, because you know something important is beyond. To know a limit as a limit is already to be partly beyond it, as Hegel said.

A fully effective wall would be invisible, so you don't know that there is any new space there. Links can do this second thing, too; they can lead you around and away from something, making it invisible.

Any road avoids as well as opens territory. So we need off-road vehicles on the net, and road building machinery, or at least sign painters to remind what is over the invisible hill.
