As Rosemary says, she could have been a warrior or a woman. She could have been both. They may be different stories, different women, or an intertwined metaphor useful for understanding many things. She had dark hair I think. Long black heavy hair. She was tall by the standards of her day. Coy-ol-shau'- ki. She was tall because she was heroic. 400 siblings. An only child. The question is: Why would she try to kill her mother for being pregnant with another child? No good reasons are given. Why did she plot against her mother, and rouse the others to it also? Oh this brother-to-be, he already knew what he would do, how he would triumph. It was easy apparently. He simply overpowered her and her 400 siblings. Then he took everything for himself. How could this happen? How did it happen? It seems to have happened nearly everywhere. She is co-opted, he takes it all. Broken into pieces, she becomes smaller and smaller, less and less, leaving only vague hints of what we once knew. Oh she might have shimmered like a feather worker, or painted her face with a butterfly, sandals marked with serpents. |
