Huitzilopochtli went from the defeat of Coyolxauhqui in pursuit of his elder brothers, the 400 Huitznahua, and drove them from Coatepetl. At the base of the mountain, he chased them four times around the hill, while they struck their shields and cried their war-cries. Finally the Huitznahua said, "Let this be enough!" But Huitzilopochtli pursued the last of them into the south, to Huitzlampa, the Place of Thorns, the land of the 400 Huitznahua, the People of the South, the People of the Thorns. |
