The vicious epidemic of rock throwing assaults on innocent people and businesses seems to have tapered off, according to Mercurity City police. Captain Norvell S. Pinge announced today that nightly patrols and security precautions were being discontinued. "I guess it's because the weather's getting colder," he said, pointing to a spot in the gutter where the first rock was found early last month. Anybody with information about the rock throwing incidents are urged to call the office of District Attorney Anthony Newt. A cash reward of $20 is offered.
