Cas McGee
Castadera Antoine McGee ("Cas McGee" for the accent challenged) swears he remembers the first light sensation of being born on a sweltering summer morning in New Orleans, La. It is that indelible feeling, coupled with his Crescent City upbringing, that is at the root of his extremely candid and personal writing. He graduated from Cornell University where he was first introduced to performance poetry through his brief association with the "Welfare Poets" collective.

Upon moving to the bay area two years ago, he began performing in local poetry slams which led to a spot on the 1998 San Francisco Poetry Slam Team. As a member of the SF Slam Team, he performed at the West Coast Regionals in Big Sur and contributed to team victories at the Salmon Slam in Portland, Or. and a team challenge in Santa Cruz. In August of 1998, Cas competed with the SF Slam Team at the National Poetry Slam in Austin, Tx.

A self-professed music junkie, Cas is constantly searching for a groove and is convinced that "there's no problem in the world that a shrimp po-boy and a huckabuck can't fix." Too bad both of those things are in short supply outside of his birthplace. The search continues....
